Hi, my name is Drusus Lawson – and this is my story.
That's right, I'm your official generation four heir. Not a bad achievement, if you ask me, especially when you consider that not one solitary picture was taken of me when I was a toddler!
Anyway, if you remember Mama Celeste's last update, my brothers and I had just headed off to university. Dionysius took a room in the non-heir dorm, while the rest of us chose a dorm right next door to the frat house Grandpa Castor had lived in when he went to Sim State University, all those years ago.
This is my twin brother, Darcy. For twins, we don't look that much alike. He's a lot grouchier than me too – but if you tell him I said that, I'll deny it.
We call Dante the baby of the family, even though he's actually a few minutes older than Dionysius. If it weren't for Darcy's and my good influence, he wouldn't get any work done at uni. He's a Romance Sim, you see – all about the boys.
As you can imagine, he was pretty happy when George here turned out to be the first of the other dormies to join our dorm.
There would be plenty of time for romancing the dormies later however. First on the schedule was a game of chess. The kid hasn't beaten me yet, you know, but that doesn't stop him trying.
After I thrashed Dante yet again, I decided a quick clothes shopping trip was in order. The rocker-style outfit I'd aged into was a lot more Dante than me, so I passed it on to him and bought myself something a little more normal instead.
Life in the dorms was mostly a lot of fun. My brothers and I were pretty close, so it was a lot like living with my two best friends.
It didn't take long, however, for Dante's eyes to start to wander. I can't say I thought much of his taste.
Soon he was putting all his Romance Sim skills to work.
Personally, I was more interested in swapping recipes with my dormmates.
Let's face it, Dante was doing enough schmoozing for the two of us.
Thanks to his sole nice point, however, he refused to enjoy his romantic successes for long.
Meanwhile, I was finally beginning to realise the full implications of having been made heir.
Darcy wasn't sure what he could say to counter the terrifying prospect of a house full of Legacy spawn.
Speaking of Darcy, he was really starting to miss his highschool boyfriend, Andrzej Ryan. He wanted Andrzej to join us at uni... so our Simgod arranged it.
If you ask me, the years hadn't been kind to him.
Darcy didn't seem to mind, however.
With part of our combined scholarship money, we bought a makeover chair, to see what kind of genes were lurking beneath the bad hair and brows of our dormies and fellow uni students.
George didn't really need much fixing, but a change of eyebrows served him well.
This one, however, needed a little more work.
Even after I'd worked my magic, he was no heartthrob, but the change of hair and brows certainly didn't hurt.
Darcy was accosted by this aging coach, and forced to work out in the middle of the kitchen. He wasn't even overweight!
The dormies had little time for me or Darcy. They were too busy swooning over Dante every time he walked by.
Well, that and snogging each other.
Me? I couldn't help but be intrigued by the possibility of their being a total babe hiding underneath that llama's head.
Not that I'm a furry or anything.
Really. I'm not.
Dante thought it horribly annoying that he had to be romantic with the guys he wanted to get into bed.
That didn't stop him from grabbing his very first kiss from George, however.
The dormies weren't achieving greatness at quite the same rate.
We all went to one of the university community areas, where Darcy demonstrated that I'm the only Lawson brother with remotely decent taste in men. Ew.
Guess who decided to turn up – Dionysius. He was really getting into the clubbing scene at uni.
Uncle Christopher was there as well, looking like he'd been shopping at the same place as Dionysius.
Hmm, the guy Christopher was talking to wasn't too bad to look at.
This guy, however? Yeah, not so much.
I don't think anyone was surprised when Dante invited the cute guy over for a date.
A successful date.
Yeah, it figured that Dante would be the first of us to give it up.
Of course, experiencing the end result didn't stop him complaining about the initial stages of the process.
Despite his whining, George was quick to be the second to jump into Dante's bed. It didn't hurt that Dante swore that George was his first.
Romance Sims, huh?
We headed out to the gym to get in some exercise. Why is it always the ugly ones who are so damn quick to criticise?
The guy serving coffee wasn't too bad, though.
Dante didn't worry about minor issues like looks. Notches on bedposts were all it was about!
I had my own prey in my sights.
With better brows and a more flattering hair cut, he could've been more than all right.
Being twins, Darcy and I were particularly close. Sometimes I worried that Dante might feel a little left out.
All such worries were quickly pushed from my thoughts, however, when I spotted Darren on an outing to Sim State Tower.
After a brief chat at the tower, and a not-so-brief conversation over the telephone, I finally mustered up the courage to invite Darren over for a date. Luckily, he was about as shy as I was, so he didn't mind my stumbling advances.
Dante was a much quicker mover than me. Notch number three.
I wasn't completely useless, though. First kiss, baby!
I gave Darren a makeover. He was so much hotter without that awful hair.
Our first date was a total success.
I decided it was about time I did away with the hairstyle I'd had all my life.
The dormies continued to fail. Big time.
Me, though? Things were going great.
Dante totally approved of Darren, which was nice.
He was less enthusiastic about the fug from the gym.
Apparently he was good for one thing. Four.
Things continued to go well with Darren.
So well, that even this guy we met one of the uni shops couldn't do anything more than turn my head.
As for Darcy, well, he'd found someone too. Andrzej was completely out of the picture, replaced by a handsome redhead called Ray Tellerman.
I was happy for my twin. I wanted all my brothers to know what it was like to be in love.
Oh, did I forget to mention that? Yeah. Just call me a softie, all right?
Things were pretty damn perfect with Darren, though! It was hard not to fall for him. Head over heels and so forth.
Oh yeah, and by the way? Well... a gentleman knows better than to kiss and tell.
We were even starting to talk about getting engaged.
For some reason, George moved out of the dorm. His replacement, Nathen, had disgusting hair, but seemed like he might be pretty cute underneath.
Dante enjoyed nothing more than making fun of Darcy's dancing.
It's okay, though. Darcy more than got him back by making fun of the fact that Dante's fifth notch was a professor. No standards, that kid. No standards at all.
The llama came back to tempt me, but the mystery of his true appearance faded significantly when I had Darren due over at any minute.
I finally got up enough courage to propose.
He liked the ring...
...and said yes!
I guess it was time for another redhead to join the Lawson clan!
Speaking of redheads, by now Darcy was smitten with his boyfriend, Ray.
Say all you like about Dante, but at least he didn't lose his virginity in a dressing room, unlike someone I could name.
Obviously I was a good influence on my twin. It wasn't long before he was talking engagement as well.
Darren and I headed downtown for a date, not long after we got engaged, and I was surprised to see Grandpa Britannicus
It seemed like the perfect opportunity to start introducing Darren to the family.
It was a nerve-wracking experience, but luckily the two of them got on well.
I'd assumed Grandpa Britannicus being there was a coincidence, but when I noticed Mama Celeste walking in from the street, it became obvious that my brothers were behind these 'accidental' meetings.
Still, I was all for showing Darren off to the previous two Lawson heirs, and he and Mama Celeste hit it off right away.
Darren was so pleased by how the family introductions had gone that he left me a giant water sculpture as a thank you gift!
Remember our new dormmate, Nathen?
You guessed it - notch number six.
Meanwhile, Darcy was ready to settle down.
From the way Dante went on about it, I didn't think we had to worry about him following suit any time soon!
As an evil snowman watched from the front of the dorm, we all headed off to sit for our final. Hours later we returned, names on the Dean's List yet again, and prepared to head into the second half of our university careers.
